Busy, expensive restaurants are not always the most appealing for couples on Valentine’s Day which is why many are ditching the traditional date in favour of something much more fun, such as a night out at an FEC. Adult life is busy, it is filled with deadlines, juggling priorities and chores and bills. There is no wonder that the “Kidulting” trend is growing. Adults are enjoying this form of escapism that takes them straight back to their childhood and allows them to feel as carefree as they did as a child. It is a great way to truly enjoy the moment, so why not share this as a date?
Couples activities you can offer at your FEC this Valentine’s Day
Introduce some healthy rivalry into the relationship with an activity where couples can go head-to-head. Some examples of these include a dodgeball tournament or races on your inflatable assault course/ ninja area with RFID wristbands to track the quickest times. They are bound to work up an appetite as they both try their best to become champions. Remember to offer some adult friendly items to your menu for the evening and add some prizes to the mix to make it more interesting. The winner will love reminding their partner of the time they were crowned dodgeball victors by wearing their ‘Champion T-shirt.’
Valentine’s Day packages at your FEC
If you have an FEC with multiple indoor activities, why not offer a whole evening of fun as a package deal? From mini golf to soft play, laser tag to bowling, let your customers choose their activities and include a meal in the package price. For licensed premises, include a bottle of wine to give it more of a date vibe. You could market this package as a ‘blast from the past’, evoking memories of the easy going, relaxed entertainment enjoyed in the years before life got so “adult”. A plush toy is always a popular gift to take home after a date to remind customers of the fun they’ve had at your venue.
Traditional couple’s date-night childcare
Fun filled dates are not for everyone, there are still many couples who prefer to stick to the traditional dinner date. But wait, they can’t because they are unable to get childcare with everyone else out for Valentine’s Night! Why not offer a Valentine’s drop-and-go session so that busy parents can go for a date with the peace of mind that the kids are entertained and taken care of? The kids will love it and the parents will get to indulge in a child-free date night. An activity and meal package will sweeten the deal too since parents don’t have to worry about feeding the kids.
Activities for singles you can offer at your FEC this Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day can also be a great excuse for singles to get together and take a step back in time with a trip to your venue.
Valentine’s Day ‘Adults only night’ at your FEC
Open your venue this Valentine’s night for an adults-only session. You will be surprised how many grown-ups really want to let loose on your equipment. Spending Valentine’s night bouncing around a trampoline park or climbing on soft play and taking on the death slide is a fantastic way to spend Valentine’s Day.
Take ‘Adults only nights’ a step further with a full-on party. Think disco lights, loud music, glow wear. This will work for any venue as the party goers can enjoy your equipment and the party mood. These nights work best when they are themed, for example, 80s or 90s decade parties. The retro 80’s vibe calls out for glow wear, leg warmers and glow socks. While 90s can take on a rave theme with glow sticks and dance music.
Meeting people can get more difficult as you get older and have more responsibilities. Why not hold a date night where like-minded fun-loving singles can meet and mingle whilst “kidulting”? Taking the edge of a traditional first meeting, the relaxed environment will encourage people to be themselves. Introduce a colour coded wristband or grip sock so that guests can see at a glance what their fellow singles are looking for, for example, friendship, companionship or a relationship. Some parks have even started hosting speed dating evenings at their venues to help singles meet their perfect match.
